REMASYS HELPS ING AUSTRALIA LAUNCH WEALTH MANAGEMENT PRODUCT

Background

ING Australia is a subsidiary of the global investment banking institution ING Group which operates in more than sixty-five countries around the world and employs 100,000 staff.

ING Australia’s operations have been in business since 1878 initially as Mercantile Mutual, and then in 1982 it became part of what is now ING Group, and in 2002 became a joint venture between ING Group, which owns 51% and ANZ Bank which owns 49%. The company has built a reputation for quality products and outstanding customer service.

The Situation

In June 2003, IBM GSA approached REMASYS (following a recommendation from ING Australia) to investigate utilising i-BAHN to establish the capability for the interchange of data between ING and ANZ.

An interchange was required to cover the exchange of information between multiple business functions from the two organisations: retail accounting (CAP), cards ordering and accounts (Vision Plus), credits/debits (CTM), statements (BAS/IAS), superannuation Savings Account (SSA), Trust Accounting (TACT), Panorama (Insurance Business Intelligence Software) and Solution 6 (Accounting).

A new product launch was rapidly approaching. However none of the existing set of integration solutions on the market met the target requirements, placing the launch in jeopardy.

The Solution

IBM GSA had considered two other well-known integration solutions but had to rule these out due to the limited time available and compatibility and cost issues.

REMASYS introduced i-BAHN, a systems integration tool that brings together disparate information and data from any number of locations.

i-BAHN was evaluated by ING Australia and IBM GSA and considered ideal for the situation as it allows for the exchange of data between disparate platforms whether from mainstream, home grown or legacy systems. i-BAHN also manages the delivery of data in any format and across any transport allowing for the rapid creation of templates without the need for developing specialized single purpose implementations.

IBM GSA implemented i-BAHN within two weeks. The system was tested and fully integrated when it went ‘live’ in July 2003. i-BAHN has been problem-free and operating effectively since the launch.
